The 9th African evaluation Association (AfrEA) International Conference "Accelerating Africa's Development: Strengthening National Evaluation Ecosystems" took place from March 11-15, 2019 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The conference was co-hosted by the Réseau Ivoirien de Suivi et d'Evaluation (RISE) and the Government of Cote D'Ivoire. The conference aime to:

Juha I. Uitto, Director for the Independent Evaluation Office of the GEF, participated as a keynote speaker at the 2019 Asian Pacific Evaluation Association (APEA) international conference. Uitto focused his discussion on evaluation results tied to climate change and environmental sustainability's link with peace, security and development. In addition, Uitto chaired the session on Evaluating Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (details TBD).

GEF IEO is participating in a series of side events (see below) at the 24th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24).

Ms. Baljit Wadhwa, Senior Evaluation Officer, will discuss broad highlights from the IEO's recent Evaluation of the GEF-UNIDO Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP). The evaluation will be presented at the December 2018 Council meeting.

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Independent Evaluation Unit (IEU) invited Juha Uitto, Director of the GEF Independent Evaluation Office, for a lunch talk on Friday, November 30 at the headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea. Uitto talked about the Sixth Comprehensive Evaluation of the GEF: The GEF in the Changing Environmental Finance Landscape.

The GEF IEO participated in the Evaluation Cooperation Group (ECG) Fall 2018 meeting, hosted by Asian Development Bank in Shanghai, PR China.
