Juha I. Uitto, IEO Director, will be the keynote speaker at the 2019 Energy Evaluation Asia-Pacific (EEAP) conference in October. EEAP is a community supporting the evaluation of energy policy and programs. This conference theme is "How can evaluation be used to secure support from funders?".

The GEF Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) together with the Earth-Eval Community of Practice (CoP) organized the Third International Conference on Evaluating Environment and Development in collaboration with IDEAS Global Assembly (GA). The theme of the conference was Evaluating Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources Management. The conference gathered the participants in Prague, Czech Republic, for 3 days of intensive discussions.
The Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute (AFDI), together with the Independent Evaluation Department (IED) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), hosted the 2019 Asian Evaluation Week. The theme was "Quality Evaluation for Better Results: Local, National, Regional Perspectives". Juha Uitto (Director, GEF IEO) organized a session on evaluative evidence to tackle environmental and development challenges in SIDS.
