The findings and conclusions Program Evaluation of the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) were welcomed by the United Nations Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP22) in November 2016.

World Bank Group Geospatial Day

The Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the GEF presented six case studies from the biodiversity, international waters, and land degradation focal areas of the GEF at the First Geospatial Day celebrated at the World Bank on 1 November 2016.

The case studies demonstrated how the IEO has been using geospatial science combined with big data analytics and cutting edge technology to complement traditional evaluation methods.

IUCN World Conservation Congress 2016

Forum on Implementing Climate Change Policy Evaluation

On May 25, Juha Uitto was a key note speaker at the Forum on Implementing Climate Change Policy Evaluation convened by the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change in Mexico. In his speech, Mr. Uitto outlined progress and challenges in evaluation of environmental and climate change policies. He emphasized the need to address climate change from a holistic perspective focusing on the effectiveness of policy implementation and using rigorous evaluation methodologies, and solid theories of change.

Webinar on Systematic Triangulation Applied to the Identification of Evaluation Findings

On May 15, 2014 from 8:30 am - 9:30 am EDT, Carlo Carugi, Senior Evaluation Officer and team leader of the country portfolio evaluation (CPE) team at the Global Environment Facility Inependent Evaluation Office (GEF IEO), presented a webinar on systematic triangulation as a mixed-method approach in evaluation. The webinar discussed common challenges in country level evaluations, the procedures for systematic triangulation, and had drawn lessons based on results from nine evaluations and an example from an evaluation conducted in the Pacific region.
