Evaluation, 20th Anniversary

This video highlights the findings and recommendations of the first strategic country cluster evaluation (SCCE) in the Lower Mekong River Basin (LMRB) conducted by the Independent Evaluation Office of the Global Environment Facility (GEF IEO). The Mekong River Basin is a vital ecosystem that supports the livelihoods and well-being of more than 60 million people across six countries: Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. However, the LMRB faces multiple environmental and socio-economic challenges threatening its sustainability and resilience. The GEF has been a key partner in addressing these challenges since 1991. The SCCE assessed how the GEF's support has contributed to enhancing regional cooperation, strengthening institutional capacities, demonstrating innovative solutions, and generating environmental and socio-economic benefits in the LMRB. The SCCE also identified some areas for improvement, such as fostering synergies, enhancing adaptive management, and strengthening partnerships.
