The 2nd Global Adaptation Network Forum focused on some of the most pressing challenges for climate change adaptation and provided an opportunity for decision makers, policy experts and practitioners to share knowledge and experience on how to address these challenges.The Forum was organized jointly by UN Environment's Global Adaptation Network and Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. Holding the Forum in Abu Dhabi provided an opportunity to consider some of the specific challenges in Gulf region, including how to ensure continued access to clean freshwater. The solutions developed in the region can be of relevance in other parts of the world.
There were four main themes for the Forum:
- From the Gulf to the World
- Adaptation metrics: assessing risks and progress
- Adaptation Learning
- Reaching the most volunerable
Cross-cutting theme: Adaptation and non-state actors
The Independent Evaluation Office of the GEF presented evaluative evidence from Program Evaluations of the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) and the Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF), as well as the Formative Review of the Integrated Approach Pilot (IAP) program under the adaptation metrics theme.
